This silent-era classic recounts the story of the doomed teenage warrior of the 15th century who would eventually be canonised. Tried for claiming to have spoken with God, Jeanne d'Arc endures inhumane treatment and intimidation from the officials of the church court. Though she is at first bullied into recanting, Jeanne ultimately chooses what she believes to be the truth. Her punishment, a notoriously brutal execution, secures her lasting martyrdom.
